Our love for beauty and timeless quality
We are Susann (41) and Sebastian Sauer (43), a couple with two children and a deep connection to nature. We live our passion for quality and aesthetics through our work as self-employed landscape gardeners, with our brand Don Peony, under which we grow and market exclusive German, premium-quality peonies. This love for the exceptional also shapes our vision for this house.

The villa’s legacy: An Italian soul in Thuringia
Designed by an Italian architect, this stately Art Nouveau villa has stood above Susann’s hometown of Gleichamberg since 1911. Its name comes from the family who built it, an entrepreneurial dynasty behind the former Gleichamberg basalt works.
When we were offered the unique opportunity to take over this jewel in 2022, we were enchanted from the very first moment: the unmistakable historic charm, the generous sense of space, and the idyllic location surrounded by greenery made the decision an easy one.

For us, the villa is more than just a house, it’s a matter close to our hearts. Since purchasing it, we’ve devoted ourselves to its careful redesign with great attention to detail: gently blending the stylish Art Nouveau atmosphere with modern comfort and a cosy, contemporary feel.
